Sunday School
EBBC operates a Sund
ay School (we prefer to refer to it as Junior Church) during Sunday morning services. All young people from the age of four join together with the rest of the church family at the beginning of the service for a time of worship and then leave to go to their classes.
After meeting together as a group for a short time in the church halls when we celebrate birthdays and other notable events in the lives of our children and teenagers we pray together and give our offerings – which are all donated to the Stillwaters Project in Sri Lanka – one of the overseas projects supported by EBBC. The youngsters then go to their classes which are dotted throughout the church building – dependant on their age.

All material for our nursery and primary school age children is based on the SALT programme published by Scripture Union and which is often mirrored by the pastor in the church service – so everyone goes home having learnt something which is age specific to them from the same passage(s).
There are three classes for our younger children – Sparklers, Trailblazers and All Stars, whilst a creche is provided for the very young in terms of a room and toys, but we do ask an adult to stay with their child at all times in the crèche.
Our teenage group is known as TOGG and they follow a very eclectic and hopefully relevant programme designed to tackle the more difficult issues of our faith and to prepare them to make some of the biggest decisions of their lives.
We try to provide as many opportunities as possible for our young people to join fully in the life of the church and we have a number who sing and play various instruments in the worship group.

We take the safety of all those in our care very seriously. To that end, all Junior Church teachers and helpers are asked to provide references which are rigorously followed up, and the Baptist Union’s child protection guidelines known as “Safe to Grow” are adhered to.
The last Sunday in each month is usually an All Age worship service when the young people stay in for the whole of the service with the rest of the church family. The young people themselves often lead and take part in these services which are great fun and are splendid opportunities to bring along family and friends who, perhaps, have yet to hear the word of God presented in a fun and non-threatening way.

Our young people come from many ethnic backgrounds and this rich diversity means that Junior Church at EBBC has so much to offer to all who come. We would love you to join our fast growing band of youngsters!
