SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
This panel is based on two familiar Bible themes. The basin and towel remind us of the words of Jesus to his disciples: "I, your Lord and Teacher, have just washed your feet. You, then, should wash one another's feet." (John 13: 14). The figures in the lower part of the panel represent those who say:
"I was hungry….. thirsty….. a stranger….. naked….. sick….. in prison….. " (Matthew 25: 31-46).
Shining in the light of the Spirit, symbolised by a dove, are the hands of loving service that feed, give to drink, welcome, clothe, care and share.
The worship of God enshrines the people's work and leisure and service to the community. Sunday worship is an offering to God of the whole of our life, and a waiting upon God for grace and strength to love and serve him during the week.
