The Worship Group
One of the statements of purpose at East Barnet Baptist Church is worship, namely ‘to magnify God in worship that celebrates His presence and power’. As throughout the Bible, one of the major ways of worshipping God is through music and song, an important part of our worship times during services at EBBC. The style of music and song tends to be a mix of the traditional and more modern and contemporary, from Charles Wesley to Matt Redman and Stuart Townend.
In order to facilitate music within the church, we have a Worship Group containing both musicians and singers. The aims are to lead the congregation in offering praise an
d thanksgiving to God during services and to encourage members of the congregation to serve God through using the musical gifts He has given. At present the Worship Group has a variety of musicians, including those who play the piano, guitar, drums, flute and violin, along with a number of singers. Services are usually led by either the piano and/or guitar, with accompaniment on the drums, flute and violin.
The group meets most weeks on a Friday evening to get together not only to practise the songs for the Sunday services, but also to spend time as a group learning new songs and exploring the use of music in worship.
