THE PEOPLE OF GOD AT WORSHIP

Notes on the collage panels by Margaret Bacon

The centre of the design is a symbol of the Trinity, God the Father - the sun, God the Son - the cross, and God the  Holy Spirit - the wings.  Ears of corn and a

broken loaf (top left) and grapes and a cup (top right) speak of God's provision for our needs in the nourishment of our physical life with daily food and of our spiritual life in the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

At the foot of the cross kneel two figures, heads bowed, like the man in the parable "who would not even raise his face to heaven" (Luke 18: 13), humbly pleading to God of forgiveness of their sinfulness. Above them, other figures demonstrate the increasing joy and confidence which comes to those who have learned the greatness of God's love in Jesus. From either side come family groups, eager to take their place amongst God's people at worship.

EBBC COLLAGES INITIATIVES - THANKS TO JOAN GRAY

Around the walls of the church are five collages by Margaret Bacon, portraying the central aspects of the life and worship of the church. They depict the people of God at worship, work and leisure, serving the community, the world church and the church triumphant. They are a source of inspiration to all who meditate upon them.

During the course of the Christian year seasonal banners are displayed over the communion table. These were designed and created by the Church Administrator, Joan Gray
