CARERS SUPPORT
Support is available to Carers who are caring for a family member, friend or neighbour.

WHAT IS A CARER?
A carer is a person who takes responsibility for looking after someone who is frail, physically disabled, has learning difficulties, sensory impairment, a mental health problem or whose health is affected by sickness or old age.
Carers can be male or female.
Carers can be any age
Carers can be looking after someone for just a few hours a week or all day, every day.
Carers can be looking after a relative or friend in their own home or can be caring from a distance.
Caring can be both rewarding and fulfilling but it can also be very stressful, exhausting or isolating.
Carer support at FIN is here to help.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
- We can offer Information and advice to help you get the services you need and the benefits you are entitled to.
- We can give you information about having a break and can help with arranging respite.
- We have regular outings for carers.
- We have monthly support groups for both active carers and former carers
- We can offer "a listening ear" when you just need someone to talk to.
- We can come and visit you at home or you can always pop in to FIN for a chat.
- We can come and see you to assess your needs in your own home.
- We can help you with form filling.
- We can liaise with health professionals, social workers and other professionals in the statutory and voluntary sector on your behalf.
- We can help by raising awareness of carers needs among professionals and in the local community.
- We can offer carers the opportunity to attend FIN training sessions.
- We will keep you informed by sending you a monthly newsletter.
